The Italian bathroom fitting company Olympia Ceramica, apart from its other well designed bathroom collections, is about to release a new bathroom line with clear inspiration from vinyl record players and hifi furniture. From what I can gather on Olympia Ceramica’s instagram, the Vinyl collection will be released in may.
Den italienska tillverkaren av badrumsinredningar Olympia Ceramica, är utöver sina redan väl designade badrumskollektioner på väg att lansera en ny kollektion med tydlig inspiration från skivspelare och klassiska stereomöbler. Av vad jag kan se på Olympia Ceramicas instagram-konto ska den nya kollektionen släppas i maj.
Olympia Ceramica has several lines of bathroom interiors, from the Asian inspired Ukiyo-e, the angular Crystal, the minimal Beauty, to the wonderful basins of the Metamorfosi line. Still, their new line that has yet to be released has an entirely different inspiration – it mimics the looks of classsical hifi furniture and vinyl record players. Gianluca Paludi is the designer and artistic director at Olympia Ceramica and he is also the creator of their new line, aptly called Vinyl.
Olympia Ceramica har flera olika badrumskollektioner, allt från den Asien-inspirerade Ukiyo-e, den kantiga Crystal, den minimalistiska Beauty, till de härliga handfaten i serien Metamorfosi. Den nya kollektionen som inte är släppt ännu har en helt annan källa till inspirationen – den efterliknar utseendet på klassiska stereomöbler och vinylskivspelare. Ginaluca Paludi är formgivare och konstnärlig ledare på Olympia Ceramica och han är även formgivaren bakom den nya kollektionen som passande nog heter Vinyl.
The bathroom sink in the Vinyl collection is clearly a simile of a vinyl record player, where the vinyl record make out the sinks that are sunken into the furniture and the tap is shaped in the form of a record player’s cartridge arm. What would appear to be volume knobs simply controls the hot and cold water. On the front of the furniture there are small holes that invoke the look of a loudspeaker and that really is the case, according to Design Milk.
Handfatet i Vinyl-kollektionen ska helt klart likna en skivspelare, där skivan utgör handfatet som är nedsänkt i själva möbeln och kranen är utformad som armen på en skivspelare. Det som skulle kunna vara volymrattarna styr i själva verket varm- och kallvattnet. På framsidan av möbeln finns små hål som ser ut att kunna gömma en högtalare och så är också fallet, enligt Design Milk.
